The CDL originally started out as a Base Clan, then migrated to a little known mod that was surfacing at that time called IX. So basically, everytime you joined an IX mod game, you were almost guaranteed an intense game. Ppl became so good that no noOb in their right mind would play. Pansy! Unfortunate for the IX mod is this. Then once the cocky HO gets dealt with time and time again, because of the stellar defensive skills, they would drop. The best feeling in the world is knowing someone is a HO whore and loves to smash bases, then join the opposite team and only focus on them. Ppl like myself that enjoyed defense, could atually make a difference by setting up turrets and protecting the flag. Agreeing with mtx, that 9c was prolly one of the most well balanced periods for Tribes 1. Sorta wasting your time deploying the crap. One shot on a remote turret and its inoperable. Turret defense was bascially nonexistant in base. So fighting in spawn became second nature to most base players. I say this only because hardly was there ever an inventory station operating. Yes overall base players were better duelers than IX mod players. For the most part, gameplay isn't changed a whole lot.

I know the change list below looks enormous, but it's not a total conversion, just a tweak. So the overall idea was to create a mod that gave some interesting new options, new customizing choices for defense, and admin tools, all the while preserving the existing gameplay and balance. (A complete list of features can be found in the README file. * Kill/Smack/Warn buttons, to give a less-severe punishment than kicking. * Referee mode, with all it's toys, items, and options. * Railgun to give heavies a decent anti-sniper option * Increased deployable turret limits so they can be used at multiple bases * More turret customizing (additional barrels) * Vehicle "ghost after destruction" fixed, Then I got more ideas, and saw some things that needed fixing, as well as some interesting ideas.

I started out just tweaking the deployable limits a little. I think of the BONES mod as "Insomniax 'light' for Tribes 2". This is what I set out to do in Tribes 2. This is why I liked insomniax- It was a mod that introduced a few new toys, but maintained the game balance, patched a few holes, and didn't replace the standard weapons as the main staple of the game.

It seems that a lot of mods are made by people who just want to make as many cool toys as a possible and show no regard towards preserving the game balance or the original intent of the game designers. I'm not a mod junkie, and in fact I really dislike most mods. However, despite this, there has always been room for improvement, and a few minor oversights.īack in Tribes 1, I used to play almost exclusively on the Insomniax mod. Tribes has always been a surpassingly vibrant, rich, and balanced gaming system, even from the first release of Tribes 1.
